On a call last week with a 53 year old woman she told me that her doctor basically shrugged and said “This is just how it is. You’re older now. You’ll gain weight and lose muscle.”

She couldn’t believe that was true, but... ⠀
She hasn’t been able to lose weight yet. In fact she’s put on 10+lbs.
⠀
And there in the back of her head is the doctor’s voice telling her what she wants to do isn’t possible.
⠀
Ladies, don’t you believe it.
⠀
It isn’t true.
⠀
Your body starts losing muscle in your 30’s *if* you don’t actively pursue building muscle.
⠀
You control that.
⠀
Get in the gym and lift. Focus on getting stronger over time.
⠀
Prioritize protein in your diet.
⠀
Menopause doesn’t directly cause you to gain weight.
⠀
Your changing hormones might increase cravings and hunger, you might feel more fatigued, your sleep might be disturbed. All of those things could impact either calories in or calories out.
⠀
Learn to manage those factors, get calories in and calories out right. You’ll lose weight.
⠀
Anyone telling you it’s too late or it can’t be done is a cotton headed ninny muggins.

A mini TRX Circuit workout.  Do all 5 exercises as follows:
1. Lateral Squat Jumps...30 seconds non stop 
2. Bicep Curl/Tricep Extension...do this simultaneous movement for 30 seconds.  To make it easier go slower, especially if you’re new to TRX.  To make it harder, move your feet closer to the anchor point so your gravitational pull is greater. 
3. Single Leg Squat into a Single Leg Stretch.  Go slower if preferred.  Don’t sit as low if your knees or back bother you.  Do 8 reps on right leg and switch to repeat 8 reps on left leg.
4. Torso Pull with Rotation.  Safely grasp both straps in one hand and reach back with the free arm toward floor with a full extension and then pull the body up with the other arm into a one arm row.  Do 8 reps on right side and then 8 reps on left side at a speed that allows you to use full range of motion and good form. To make it harder, move your feet closer to the anchor point and keep legs straight as you reach back and pull up. 
5. Two Chest Press Into One Slow Roll Out.  Do 6 reps (each rep is 2 chest press and a slow roll out). I’m going quickly here but go much slower if you are new to this exercise or if you prefer to move slower for this move in general.  Keep arms bent 90 degrees at the bottom of the push up. To make the exercise harder bring you feet closer to the anchor point and/or do it on your toes.  The rollout is very advanced so roll out slowly and only half way until you develop the proper control for full range of motion.  Again, you can go up on your toes to make it even more advanced if preferred. 
Repeat all 5 exercises consecutively (as described above) for a total of three times for a challenging total body workout..

In High school I was that overweight girl who felt waaaay too self conscious letting my friends see me in a bathing suit, so I spent most Summers finding strategic ways to cover up & excuses as to why I wasn't into swimming🤦
Gah, I honestly think that is why I don't swim often even now at 57, that long held bathing suit anxiety still resides in my subconscious mind...just the thought of putting on a suit kept me out the pool...so I became a leg dangler
Yesterday I mentioned that I had an aversion to sun 😎🏖️ (which is true) but in reflection, I see iwas an excuse I have been telling myself which also gave me a pass when it comes to the whole  suit issue..WOW insight

Today I thought I would get real with myself and y'all and fess up...plus I KNOW deep down I am ready to let go of any & all self limiting beliefs, embrace my body in all it's glory& flaw...wear the dam suit already!

Last night I took a quick pic of myself in a bikini 🤳👙I know this may sound odd to some but thought I looked pretty fab.Not in a showy off kinda way but in a holy crap this taking care of myself, eating clean, working out daily thing really works😲...so in a moment of feeling the fear & doing it anyway...I posted it to my stories

They have not only took charge of their own health but have taken proper charge of their children’s health. BTW That is a parent’s responsibility. Children should not be dictating what they eat.
